
Canadiens Assign Jaroslav Halak To Bulldogs

HAMILTON, ON - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Halak, 22, was recalled by Montreal from Hamilton on December 3rd and played one game with the Canadiens on December 8th against the Carolina Hurricanes, allowing one goal and making six saves in 19:59. The native of Bratislava, Slovakia, registered a 10-6-0 record with two shutouts, a 2.89 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 16 games with Montreal during the 2006-2007 NHL season.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound netminder has appeared in 11 games with Hamilton so far this season, posting a 4-4-2 record with one shutout, a 2.66 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. In 51-career AHL games, all with the Bulldogs, Halak has a record of 27-21-1 with 10 shutouts, a 2.21 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
Halak was selected by the Canadiens in the 9th round, 271st overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action tonight (Saturday, December 15th) at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the Syracuse Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.
