Falcons In Portland For The Weekend

The Springfield Falcons are in Portland, Maine this weekend for a pair of road games against the Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The Falcons are 2-0-0-1 against the Pirates this season with all three contests occurring in October.

SOME FALCONS NOTES ENTERING THE WEEKEND:

The Falcons are 1-0-0-1 in two games this season in Portland taking three of a possible four points. The last time Springfield was in Portland was back on October 21 with Springfield losing in the shootout.

Friday's win over the Houston Aeros was the Falcons first ever game against a West Division team.

The 40 shots Springfield recorded on Friday night was a season high.

The Falcons are only two points behind second place Hartford and six points ahead of fourth place Portland.

Springfield is 10-4 on home ice this year and they have the third best home winning percentage in the Eastern Conference at .714. Providence is first with a record of 11-3-1-0 (.767) and Portland is second at 9-3-0-0 (.750).

The Falcons are now a perfect 2-0 on home ice in the shootout. The Falcons have played eight games decided in either overtime or the shootout and they are 2-1 in overtime and 2-3 in the shootout for an overall record of 4-4.

Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers has a league-leading 14 wins on the season.

Rob Schremp is currently tied for third in the league in scoring with 32 points, only two points shy of the league lead.

The Falcons are 16-9-1-3 through 29 games, last year they were 15-13-0-1 through 29 games, a five-point increase in the standings from a season ago.
