SYRACUSE, N.Y. --- Daniel Walcott recorded both goals for the Syracuse Crunch in a 4-2 loss to the Rochester Americans tonight at Blue Cross Arena.

Goaltender Scott Wedgewood stopped 23-of-27 in net for the Crunch, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen turned aside 31-of-33 between the pipes for the Amerks. Syracuse and Rochester both went 1-for-5 on the power play.

The Amerks were first on the board 4:01 into the game. Jacob Bryson passed ahead for Scott Wilson to come in on a short breakaway and score from the right circle.

Syracuse evened the score with a shorthanded marker a minute later. After poking the puck away twice, Walcott gained control and sped into the zone. His left-wing shot was blocked, but he cut across the slot and backhanded his own rebound past Luukkonen.

Rochester regained their lead at 8:46. Casey Mittelstadt switched to his backhand as he crossed in front of the net and shoveled in a shot. Wilson and Brett Murray tallied the assists.

The Amerks make it a two-goal lead on the power play just 48 seconds into the middle frame. Jacob Bryson fed Wilson for a one-timer on the backdoor. Murray made it a multi-point night on the play.

The Crunch came back within one off Walcott's second of the night while on the power play at the 15:20 mark. He redirected Patrick Sieloff's long right-point shot. Mathieu Joseph tallied the secondary helper.

Just 34 seconds later, Rochester stole it back and held their lead through the final frame. Wedgewood made the stop on Andrew Oglevie as he crashed the net, but C.J. Smith followed behind to chip in the rebound.

The Crunch return home to host the Providence Bruins tomorrow at 7 p.m.
