The Wheeling Nailers, AA affiliate for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a transaction, effective immediately. Forward Paul Crowder has been signed to a PTO by the AHL's Manchester Monarchs.

Crowder, 26, is currently in the midst of his third full season in professional hockey, as well as his second year as a member of the Nailers. After four seasons in the BCHL and three years with the University of Alaska-Anchorage, Paul turned pro, joining the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack. In 90 games with the Wolf Pack, Crowder recorded 12 goals, 17 assists, and 29 points.

At the start of the 2010-11 season, Crowder joined the Utah Grizzlies, where he stayed for 20 games, before being dealt to Wheeling prior to last season's playoff push. The Victoria, BC native posted 11 points during the regular season with the Nailers, then added 15 points during Wheeling's run to the Eastern Conference Final.

Thus far this season, Paul Crowder has appeared in 37 games, scoring 12 goals, 22 assists, and 34 points as the Nailers' captain.

Crowder could be in the Monarchs' lineup as soon as Friday night, when Manchester travels to Worcester for a game against the Sharks.
