Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced on Friday that they have re-signed forward Martin Moucha to a standard player contract and have added goaltender Matt Anthony as an emergency backup. Additionally, goaltender Timo Pielmeier has been re-assigned from Elmira by the NHL's New Jersey Devils to the AHL's Albany Devils.
Moucha, a second-year pro, has three goals and 17 assists for 20 points in 29 games with the FHL's Danbury Whalers in 2011-2012. He also contributed an assist in his only game with Elmira this season on Oct. 22. The 28-year old scored two goals and added an assist for three points in five games with the Jackals at the end of 2010-2011 while posting 31 points (10g-21a) in 17 games with the Whalers last year. Moucha is a graduate of the 2009 Elmira Jackals Pro Placement Camp.
Anthony, a native of Wheatley, Ontario, has played in 33 games with the FHL's 1000 Islanders Privateers this season, posting a 22-8-2 record with a .901 save percentage and a 3.36 goals-against average. He spent the last three seasons playing professionally in the Netherlands.
Pielmeier is 9-7-3 with Elmira this season with a .908 save percentage and a 2.96 goals-against average. A third-year pro from Deggendorf, Germany, Pielmeier has played in one game with Albany in 2011-2012, entering the contest in relief and making eight saves on 10 shots. Pielmeier was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Jackals play three road games this weekend in Reading and Trenton before returning home to host Wheeling on Feb. 14 at First Arena. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
