
Crosby Stymies 'Cats in 4-2 Erie Win

The SeaWolves, backed by a spectacular starting pitching performance from Casey Crosby, took down the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in game one of a three game series at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday night.
Erie struck first in the top of the second inning against Fisher Cats starter Joel Carreno. With one out, Audy Ciriaco extended his season-best hitting streak to 11-straight games with a base hit. Deik Scram followed with a double off the wall in center, plating Ciriaco for a 1-0 lead.
In the third, Jamie Johnson singled with one out and moved into scoring position on a Gustavo Nunez base hit. Justin Henry lifted a fly ball to left and it went off the glove of the left fielder Danny Perales. An error was charged to Perales as Johnson came home to score for a 2-0 'Wolves lead.
Erie extended its lead in the top of the sixth. Bryan Pound singled with one out and he came home to score on a Ciriaco double to straight away center for a 3-0 'Wolves lead.
The Fisher Cats got on the board in the seventh inning against reliever Jared Gayhart. Travis d'Arnaud led off with a double down the right field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch. D'Arnaud scored on a Yan Gomes sacrifice fly making it a 3-1 game.
Erie added an insurance run against reliever Frank Gailey in the top of the ninth. Ciriaco and Scram connected on back-to-back singles. Bryan Holaday sacrificed the runners into scoring position. Cale Iorg grounded out, plating Ciriaco for a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, d'Arnaud connected on a one-out solo home run off of reliever Tyler Stohr, cutting the Erie lead in half at 4-2. Stohr retired the final two, preserving the Erie win and earning his second save.
Crosby (7-5) earned the win tossing six shutout innings, allowing three hits. He walked one while striking out a season-high eight. It was just the second time this season where Crosby walked fewer than two in a game and it is his first win since July 18.
The SeaWolves and Fisher Cats meet in the second game of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon.12:05 First Pitch. Lefty Jay Voss (7-5, 3.59 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Dustin McGowan (Rehab Appearance).
