
Arnesen Pitches Senators to 5-4 Win Over Richmond

The Harrisburg Senators opened up their important three-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels with a 5-4 win on Tuesday night. It was the third win in a row for the Senators as they move to 65-51 on the season and keep their hold on first place for another day. With the loss, Richmond falls to 62-53 and drops to 2 1/2 games behind Harrisburg.
Erik Arnesen started and went seven strong innings for the Senators. He allowed seven hits and two earned runs in moving to 7-3 on the season. Rafael Martin pitched the final two innings allowing one hit and striking out the final four batters for his ninth save on the season.
Harrisburg started the bottom of the first with three straight hits, including a run scoring single by Leonard Davis to take a 1-0 lead. Bryce Harper drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly, giving the Sens a 2-0 lead.
Richmond tied the game with two runs in the fifth, then took the lead on a two-out solo home run off the bat of Chris Dominguez in the sixth. They tacked on an insurance run in the seventh, taking a 4-2 lead into the last of the seventh inning.
With one out, the Senators loaded the bases on walks and then Davis singled driving in two runs to tie the game at 4-4. Tyler Moore followed with a sacrifice fly to right field giving the Senators a 5-4 lead.
Erik Komatsu, Davis and Moore all had two hits in the game while Davis also drove in three runs.
The Senators have won three straight now and eight of their last 14 overall.
Game two of the three game series is Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Shairon Martis on the hill for the Senators against LH Eric Surkamp for Richmond. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
