KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 25, 2012) -- The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators, 6-2, on Monday night at CMC-NorthEast Stadium, snapping an Intimidators 6-game winning streak.
Chris Devenski (4-2), making his first career starter, struck out a career-high eight batters in a losing effort. He settled down after allowing two runs in the first inning, retiring nine straight. He struck out the side in the third inning, his second three-strikeout inning of the night.
Hickory's Rougned Odor blasted a two-out home run (8) in the first inning, and two batters later Drew Robinson followed with a run-scoring triple for an early 2-0 lead.
Victor Payano (5-3) picked up the win with five scoreless innings for the Crawdads.
Kannapolis pulled within a run on a Kevan Smith sixth inning single, but Hickory pulled away in the seventh inning when Chris Grayson connected on a three-run home run (8).
