Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - Augusta GreenJackets left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejia was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the Week of June 18-24 in an announcement made today by SAL President Eric Krupa.

Mejia earned the honor as a result of his start on Sunday afternoon in Savannah in a 2-1 win that allowed the GreenJackets to take two of three from the Sand Gnats. He fired six scoreless, no-hit innings with five strikeouts to earn his first win as a starter in his fourth start of the year. The GreenJackets would lose the no-hit bid in the seventh, an inning after Mejia left the contest.

This is the second time this month that a GreenJackets pitcher has claimed the league's Pitcher of the Week honors as Kyle Crick was given the award for the Week of June 4-10. Last season, GreenJackets starting pitchers Shawn Sanford and Taylor Rogers both won the award.

The GreenJackets open their longest 2012 homestand tonight on another Feed Your Face Monday with the first of a four-game series against the Asheville Tourists. Tonight's game is slated to start at 7:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1340 AM and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com. Single-game tickets for any home game can currently be obtained by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
