Courtnall and McNeely Called up to Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forwards Justin Courtnall and Tyler McNeely have been called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Courtnall, 23, scored two goals and two assists for four points in 18 games with the Stingrays. The Victoria, British Columbia, native dressed in one game with Providence earlier this season adding no points. Currently in his first professional campaign, Courtnall attended Boston University for three seasons registering 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 92 career games. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round (210 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

McNeely, 25, leads the Stingrays with 34 points (nine goals, 25 assists) in 38 games. Last season, the Burnaby, British Columbia, native skated in 66 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL grabbing nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points. In 76 career AHL contests, all with Bridgeport, McNeely buried 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists). Before moving into the professional ranks, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward spent four seasons at Northeastern University and served as team captain his junior and senior year.
