
Stingrays Receive Forward Phil Mangan from Stockton

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has received forward Phil Mangan from the Stockton Thunder in exchange for the ECHL rights of defenseman Colten Hayes.
Mangan, 25, skated in 31 games with the Thunder scoring eight goals and three assists for 11 points. Currently in his first professional season, the Ganonoque, Ontario, native attended St. Francis Xavier University for three seasons adding 66 points (20 goals, 46 assists) in 77 career contests. Before joining the college ranks, Mangan appeared in 216 games at the major junior level with Kingston and Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League and Moncton and St. John's of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League totaling 128 points (44 goals, 84 assists) in 216 games.
Hayes, 22, was claimed by the Stingrays off waivers from the Ft. Wayne Komets on November 27, 2012 and was suspended by the team on November 29. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia, native did not appear in a game with the Stingrays.

The Stingrays open a three-game road trip Friday, January 11 at 7:05 p.m. against the Trenton Titans at the Sun National Bank Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday, January 15 to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Grab two tickets for the price of one at the Coliseum Box Office!
