ABOUT TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
Season Series: Series tied 3-3
The Nailers return to WesBanco Arena to close out the regular season for a pair of games on Thursday and Saturday against the Toledo Walleye. Wheeling has clinched a spot in the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, but is in a tight battle with several teams to try to secure home ice advantage in the first round. The Nailers earned a key point in the standings last night in a 3-2 shootout loss at Reading.
A win by the Nailers tonight, and a win by Florida tomorrow over South Carolina, would set a first round matchup between the two teams (Wheeling/Florida), with the home ice advantage to be decided in Saturday's contests.
Toledo is fighting for its playoff lives, but recieved some help last night from Trenton who defeated Elmira 5-4. Toledo trails Elmira by four points for the eighth and final playoff spot. Toledo can still catch Cincinnati who has 76 points in the seventh slot. Toledo plays host to Elmira on Friday, before returning to Wheeling on Saturday.
Upcoming Games:
Saturday April 2, vs. Toledo, 7:35 p.m.
The Nailers will wrap up their 2010-11 regular season against the Toeldo Walleye. It is Fan Appreciation Night with prizes being given away throughout the night. The game is also NFL Lockout Lallapalooza, fans may receive $5 off admission by wearing an NFL Jersey to the game. Game time is set for 7:35pm.
