Alaska Aces News Release
Alaska Aces goaltender, Gerald Coleman and forward, Wes Goldie have been named to the 2010-2011 All-ECHL First Team, and defenseman, Bryan Miller has been named to the All-ECHL Second Team, the Aces and ECHL announced on Thursday morning. The All-ECHL team was determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards for a first and second team. The Aces were the only team to have two players selected to the First Team, and three combined players on both teams. The Western Conference Champion Aces close the 2010-2011 regular season campaign with two more games in Victoria this weekend. They will return home in mid-April for Games 1 & 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. For more information, and the latest promotional news and updates, fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES.
Coleman, 25, is 29-14-1 with a league-leading 2.22 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. His 29 wins and four shutouts are each tied for the league lead. Coleman was named to the All-ECHL Second Team while with Trenton in 2008-09, behind then-Aces netminder J.P. Lamoureux. Coleman spent three weeks this season with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, and since his return has won eight consecutive starts with a 1.06 GAA and a .958 save percentage. Earlier in his career, Coleman appeared in two NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005-06.
Goldie, 31, leads the ECHL with 44 goals, is second with 81 points and 283 shots, is tied for second with 15 power-play goals and is tied for second in plus-minus at +25. Goldie is on an ECHL season-high 16-game point streak, over which he has tallied 27 points (14g-13a). He has 14 goals in his last 14 games, and has scored at least 40 goals for each of the last five seasons, becoming the first player in league history to accomplish that feat. He ranks second in league history with 333 career goals. Goldie was an All-ECHL Second Team selection in 2008-09.
Miller, 28, is tied for second among league defensemen with 41 points and is tied for second with 33 assists. His 22 power-play points are tied for third among defensemen, two back from teammate Mark Isherwood. Miller is the longest tenured member of the Aces, currently playing in his fourth season in Alaska. He has played in 69 games in the AHL over his career.
The three Aces were honored by the league one day after Alaska defenseman Mark Isherwood was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team.
