Bakersfield Condors News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (40-27-2-1, 83pts) fell to the Ontario Reign (26-38-2-4, 58pts) in front of 9,136 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday night. The Condors still lead Las Vegas by two points and Stockton by one point in the Pacific Division.
Just two minutes into the opening frame, Ontario C Aaron Lewadniuk finished off a beautiful passing play to put Ontario up 1-0. Bakersfield was able to strike back 11:33 into the first, when F Jean-Marc Beaudoin pounced on a rebound to even the score at 1-1.
The Condors grabbed a lead 3:51 into the middle frame when RW Stephane Goulet netted his team-leading 26th goal of the season on a wraparound. The Reign came back for three unanswered goals in the period, as C Brett O'Malley scored on a deflection, D Shawn Germain picked up a goal on a shorthanded breakaway, and C Justin Taylor slammed home a rebound on a 4-on-3 power play, giving the Reign a 4-2 lead after two.
Ontario increased the lead to 5-2 when RW Alex Bourret tucked home a penalty shot 6:22 into the third. RW Erick Lizon brought the difference back to just two goals when he slammed in a puck at 11:42. F Jordan Morrison countered just 17 seconds later to regain the three goal lead, bringing the score to 6-3. Beaudoin added his second of the night for the Condors on a one-timer off a pass from D Tyler Gotto, but once again the Reign would counter, as O'Malley picked up his second of the night at 17:10. RW Bobby Robins finished off the scoring with his second goal in as many nights when he scored with just 45 seconds left in the game.
