ECHL Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

April 2, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

The curtain will drop on the regular season this evening, as the Kalamazoo Wings and Elmira Jackals meet for the ninth time this year. Kalamazoo leads the season series over the Jackals with a record of 6-2-0-0, which includes a record of 2-1-0-0 at Wings Stadium.

With the playoffs beginning next week, the K-Wings still do not know their first round opponent. Kalamazoo will begin the playoffs next week on the road playing the loser of tonight's Florida Everblades-South Carolina Stingrays matchup.

Like the K-Wings, the Jackals know they are in the playoffs, but are still not sure who they will match up against. A victory tonight over Kalamazoo will give Elmira the seventh seed in the playoffs. A loss to the K-Wings would keep the Jackals in eighth. In either case they will play either Greenville or Reading.

Forward Kory Karlander is closing in on an impressive milestone. Karlander needs one more assist to reach 500 in his career.

Nie is Winning!!

Goaltender Ryan Nie is tied for the league-lead in victories with 29. The 29 victories also ties a personal career-best for Nie, established during the 2007-08 season, when he played for the Johnstown Chiefs.
