Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forward Cory Conacher has been loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, the Cyclones released forward Samson Mahbod.
Conacher enjoyed a remarkable start to his professional career; in his first five games, the Burlington, Ontario native posted seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) - including a four-point game in his ECHL debut on March 27. He followed up that performance with his first professional hat trick against the Kalamazoo Wings on March 30. Prior to joining the Cyclones, he logged two games with the Rochester Americans with a goal and two penalty minutes.
The five-foot-eight, 175-pound forward recently completed a tremendous four-year career at Canisius College, where he led the team in scoring over the last two seasons. He had a career year in 2010-11, finishing first on the team with 42 points (23 goals, 19 assists) en route to earning Second All-Team Atlantic Hockey accolades. He became just the second player in the program's history to be selected to the all-conference team on two occasions.
Mahbod, meanwhile, skated in 22 games with the Cyclones this year, earning five goals and five assists.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will wait and watch as their postseason opponent will be determined tonight when the final games are concluded around the ECHL. 2011 Kelly Cup Playoff ticket packages and 2011-12 season tickets are on sale NOW!
