GREENVILLE, SC - The Gwinnett Gladiators capped their 2010-11 season with a 7-2 loss Saturday night at the BI-LO Center at the hands of division rival Greenville.

Shane Harper scored twice to give him five goals in the past three games against the Glads, as Gwinnett misses the postseason for the second year in a row. Tim Filangieri scored both of the Glads markers, giving him the second and third goals of his pro career and his first multi-goal game

Harper had the only goal of the first, cutting to the middle on the powerplay and beating Chris Carrozzi high blocker side from close in at 10:42.

The second period saw Greenville break the game open. Andrew Rowe's tally at 3:45 made it 2-0, and at 13:10 Harper's second of the day pushed their edge to three. Brendan Connolly and Justin Bowers tacked on goals at 15:41 and 16:20 respectively to make it 5-0.

Tim Filangieri did manage to snap a shot over the glove of Nic Riopel for his second goal as a pro at 16:50 to break up the shutout. Kyle Kucharski and Justin Milo had the assists.

Down 5-1 heading into the third the Gladiators refused to quit, and Filangieri scored his second goal of the game at 10:01 to cut the deficit to three, sliding the puck past Riopel on the near post. Ian McKenzie added an assist, but that's as close as Gwinnett would get.

Chris Chappell and T.J. Reynolds found the back of the net within the last minute of the game to make it a 7-2 final.

Carrozzi gave up five goals on 21 shots before being pulled after the fifth goal. Garrett Zemlak went the rest of the way for the Glads stopping seven of nine shots. Nic Riopel earned his 24th win with 31 saves.

Gwinnett went 0-for-5 on the powerplay, while Greenville managed to go 2-for-5. The Warriors now move on the Kelly Cup Playoffs, while the Gladiators season is now over.

The 2011-2012 season starts next October.
