ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, beat the Idaho Steelheads, 3-1, before a sell-out crowd of 9,592 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena Friday night.

Michael Pelech's ninth goal of the season put the Reign up 1-0 at 14:28 of the first period. Idaho goaltender Jerry Kuhn stopped Shawn Collymore's shot, but couldn't get a handle on the rebound. The puck pinballed around in a crowd of skates and sticks before Pelech managed to swat it across the goal line. Brett O'Malley also had an assist on the play.

Ontario took a 2-0 lead on Jordan Morrison's 20th goal of the season, as he parked himself on the right post at 9:50. Geoff Irwin got Idaho on the board with a goal at 10:12 and the Steelheads had the only power play of the game for the final 1:45 of regulation, but Beau Erickson held strong in the Ontario net and O'Malley sealed the win with an empty-net goal to propel the Reign to a 3-1 win.

Beau Erickson turned aside 31 shots for the win, while Jerry Kuhn got the loss with 24 saves.
