Countdown to Face-Off: K-Wings at Jackals

Returning to the Southern Tier of New York for the second time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will head to the First Arena to battle the Elmira Jackals in the first of two straight games between the teams. On the season, Kalamazoo is 1-1-0-0 versus Elmira, including a record of 1-0-0-0 at the First Arena.

This evening is the fourth-leg of a five-game road trip for Kalamazoo. So far, the K-Wings are 2-1-0-0 during the current swing. With 57 points, Kalamazoo trails Elmira by five points for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Tonight will commence a three-game home stand for the Jackals, who are 16-8-1-1 at the First Arena. Winners of two straight, Elmira has rattled off victories in five out of their last six contests. The Jackals trail the South Carolina Stingrays by one point for seventh place in the conference.

Roster Moves Yesterday, the K-Wings activated forward Steven Anthony from the 21-Day IR and had goaltender Joe Cannata reassigned by the Vancouver Canucks. Kalamazoo also placed defenseman Elgin Reid on the Reserve and traded goaltender Brooks Ostergard to the Trenton Titans.

Good After One

The K-Wings have been tough to beat when they lead after the opening 20 minutes. On the season, Kalamazoo is 11-2-2-0 overall and 5-0-1-0 on the road when leading after the first period.

Streaking K-Wings

Forward Aaron Clarke enters tonight on an impressive point streak. Clarke has earned points in five straight games.

Kings of Overtime Kalamazoo has earned 25 out their 57 points this season in either overtime or a shootout. The K-Wings, who have of overtime/shootout (10-5) winning percentage of 0.833, are tied with the Las Vegas Wranglers and Trenton Titans for the most (5) overtime victories in the ECHL.
