BIG BEER TUESDAY / COUNTRY NIGHT
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After wrapping up their season series with Fort Wayne last night with a win, the Cyclones hope to do the same tonight with the Wheeling Nailers as they skate for the final time in 2012-13. Cincinnati has won all four meetings with their West Virginia foes this season, outscoring them 11-5 in the process. In fact, since the Nailers moved to the Atlantic Division in 2011, the Clones own an 8-1-0-1 record.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: PINK IN THE RINK NIGHT - The Cyclones will wear specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit Pink Ribbon Girls. Plus, the game will be played on pink ice!
SCOUTING THE NAILERS: Clark Donatelli's club has lost eight of its last ten games including last night in Toledo, where they blew a 2-1 third period lead and ultimately lost 5-2. Paul Crowder has emerged as the Nailers top scoring threat this season, posting 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) in 48 games. Chris Barton has also been a dangerous weapon for Wheeling - collecting nearly a point a game. He's amassed 26 tallies in 27 contests during 2012-13. Goaltender Peter Delmas, who was recently reassigned from the AHL, has started in Wheeling's last two games and has collectively earned a 10-7-0-3 record and a 2.45 goals-against average. Rookie Scott Darling has also seen significant time for the Nailers, going 9-9-1-1 with a 2.87 GAA.
The Helping Hand: Cyclones rookie David Pacan has continued to fill the role of play maker this season. His 29 assists are tied for second most among ECHL rookies. While a couple others have 30, Pacan's totals are in nine fewer games played.
Century Club for Skalde: With the victory in Fort Wayne last night, Head Coach Jarrod Skalde picked up his 100th behind the Cincinnati bench. His win totals are split exactly down the middle between division and non-division opponents.
Defensive Stalwarts: As the regular season pushes closer to its conclusion, one of the Cyclones main strengths has been its team defense. They are allowing an average of 2.69 goals per game which ranks fourth best of any team in the ECHL.
