Kane County Cougars News Release
Clinton, IA â The Kane County Cougars trailed the Clinton LumberKings 6-1 in the fourth inning Friday night at Alliant Energy Field when fierce winds and rain forced a delay and later the suspension of the ballgame. As grounds crew members tried to cover the field, the strong winds blew the tarp into a power line down the left field line, causing a power outage for the outfield lights and scoreboard. Friday's game will resume Saturday, but the start time is unknown. It is based on whether a transformer can be put in place to allow for night baseball. The originally scheduled 7:00 Saturday game will be a seven-inning contest afterward.
Cougars starter Ryan Webb allowed a first-inning double and then had two wild pitches for the game's first run. The LumberKings added to it with three runs in the second and two in the third for a 6-0 score. Kane County's only tally came in the top of the fourth. Raul Padron singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After Jose Pineda singled, Nick Blasi drove in Padron to cut it to 6-1.
