West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - When the Whitecaps host the Lansing Lugnuts on Tuesday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark, it will be a Cooley for Kids Day, presented by Cooley Law School.
The institution has donated 500 tickets for Tuesday's game that will be used by underprivileged youths throughout Western Michigan.
"Cooley works to be a good community neighbor at all our campuses across the state," said Grand Rapids Campus Director C. J. Kruska. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to send kids that might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a live Minor League Baseball game."
In the past, Cooley has sent disadvantaged children to similar events at Oldsmobile Park in Lansing. Several organizations will send young people to the Whitecaps game Tuesday, including Mel Trotter Ministries, the Hope Network, Guardian Angel Homes, Mecosta-Osceola Youth Attention Center, Ottawa County Family Court, Ottawa County Choice Program, Bethany Christian Services, United Methodist Community House of Grand Rapids and the Mental Health Foundation.
"We are extremely grateful for the thoughtfulness of Cooley Law School and so excited that they are willing to invest in some of the people we serve at Mel Trotter Ministries," said Doug Redford, Vice President of Advancement for Mel Trotter Ministries.
A portion of the tickets provided by Cooley Law School will be donated to less fortunate children from other countries as they are welcomed to the United States on behalf of Adoption Associates. Those children will attend the Whitecaps game against the Peoria Chiefs on Monday, July 30.
The game on Tuesday begins at noon with gates opening at 11 a.m.
