Loons' left-handed starter Cody White has been named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 18-24. The announcement comes one day after White's promotion to the Dodger's High-A Inland Empire affiliate.
White made one start during that period, pitching eight innings in yesterday's 2-1 Loons win, tying a personal and team high. The southpaw allowed one run, four hits and struck out five.
In the month of June with the Loons, White went 4-0 with a 0.72 ERA while striking out 19 batters in 25 innings of work.
White becomes the second Loons' pitcher named the league's Pitcher or Batter of the Week, joining Clayton Kershaw (Pitcher of the Week, May 28-June 3). Wisconsin's Juan Diaz was named this week's Midwest League Batter of the Week.
The announcement by the league was named prior to the Loons' Monday four-game series opener in Ft. Wayne, IN. Garrett White is scheduled to start for the Loons' against the Wizards' Aaron Breit. Game time is set for 7:00pm and is available in Mid-Michigan on 100.9 WYLZ or online at Loons.com.
