Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Minnesota Twins have named Beloit Snappers' outfielder, Chris Parmelee, their Minor League Player of the Week for the dates June 16 through June 22.

During that span Chris batted .384 (5 for 13) with one home run and three RBI's. Parmelee's home run was a two-run shot, that gave the Snappers a 4-3 lead over the Swing of the Quad Cities on June 16th. His home run was in the top of the eighth inning and proved to be the game winner and Midwest League Western Division First Half Championship clincher as the Snappers defeated the Swing by a 4-3 score.

Chris was the Twins' first round pick (20th overall) in the 2006 June draft. He is a native of Chino Hills, CA where he attended Chino Hills High School. Parmelee was named an AFLAC All-American and All-State Outfielder during his senior season. Chris was also rated the second-best high school pure hitter in the nation by Baseball America in a pre-draft rating.

Chris' June 16th game winning home run helped the Snappers clinch the Western Division First Half Championship and ensure them a bid in the playoffs. The Snappers will take on the Western Division Second Half Wild Card Team September 5th through September 7th.
