Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors struggled in three road games against Alaska over the weekend, dropping two one-goal games including an overtime match on Saturday. This weekend starts a two-month stretch to close the regular season in which Bakersfield will average a game less than every two days - with 27 contests over the final 51 days. They will play at least three games every week for the remainder of the season, with two four-game weeks and a five-game week in March.

The Condors hold a 26-15-3-1 record, with 56 points in the standings, and a seven point lead in the Pacific Division over the Stockton Thunder. They lead by 13 points over third place Las Vegas and Ontario, their two opponents this weekend.

Friday, Feb. 12 at Las Vegas, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 13 vs. Las Vegas, 7 p.m.

WEEK IN REVIEW (Home team in CAPS):

Wednesday, Feb. 3

ALASKA 4 vs. Condors 1

The Aces started the week with a 4-1 triumph over the Condors, using a three-goal second period to pull away for the win. D Eric Regan scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal midway through the final period to put the Condors on the board. It was the first time all season the Condors had lost three in a row.

Friday, Feb. 5

ALASKA 3 vs. Condors 2

Bakersfield fell behind 2-0 in the first period and had a last minute comeback attempt come up just short in a 3-2 win for the home team. D Ray Eichenlaub notched his first professional goal in the second period to make it 2-1, but Alaska countered with F Eric Boguniecki's second goal of the game later that period. F Mathieu Aubin scored 2:38 into the third to again make it a one-goal game, but Alaska G Frank Doyle stood his ground.

Saturday, Feb. 6

ALASKA 5 vs. Condors 4, OT

After several last-minute Condors comebacks in the last month, Bakersfield had the tables turned on them when the Aces tied the game up with just 1:03 left in regulation to force overtime. Alaska added the game-winner on the power play in overtime (their fourth power play goal of the game) to prevail. Four different players lit the lamp for the Condors.
