Reading Royals News Release

You can go straight to the grand- daddy of worn-thin cliches for this one because when things got going pretty tough for the Royals this week, Charlie Kronschnabel got -˜er going himself. Like a lot of guys, Charlie might prefer to be in a different spot right about now" heck, I'd love to be on SoCal's Manhattan Beach as I write this with fifteen inches of snow on the ground and another storm threatening"but he bit down hard this week and came up with just about all of the offense that the Royals produced in their two games played, scoring a pair of goals"both (add exclamation point here) while the team was playing short-handed. But more importantly, it was Charlie's refusal to quit after taking a blind-side hit to the head from a certain Jackal on Saturday that says all you need to know the Royals' captain...

TOP NOTES OF THE WEEK

1. With the two losses sustained by the Royals this past week, the team is currently mired in a three game losing streak, which ties the longest losing streak of the year for Reading (which was just established in the three losses sustained by the team from January 22 - January 27). The Royals are now 1-6-0-0 in the team's last seven games" and 5-10-0-1 in the team's last 16 played.

2. Reading's loss to Trenton on Friday coupled with the Elmira Jackals' win over the Wheeling Nailers that same night served to knock the Royals out of first place in the East Division of the American Conference for the first time since December 4, 2009. The Royals now trail the Jackals by five points for first place in the East with twenty- five regular season games to go for both teams.

3. Friday's 4-1 loss in Trenton marked the first time this season that the Royals have lost to the Devils in nine games played (8-1-0-0). 4. Friday's game marked the ninth time this year that the Royals' offense has been held to one goal (or less). Reading is 0-8-0-1 in those games.
