FRESNO, Calif. - Kevin St. Jacques scored at 19:19 of the third period to tie the game, but the Bakersfield Condors ultimately fell in a nine-round shootout, 4-3, to the Fresno Falcons in front of 2,814 at Save Mart Center.

St. Jacques heroics came after the Condors (8-6- 2) had pulled goalie Jamie Hodson for an extra skater. Kevin Truelson's shot from the point was saved, but St. Jacques swooped in on the left side and beat Scott Stirling to send the game to the extra session.

When nobody scored in overtime, it went to the shootout. Trailing 2-1 in the shootout and down to their final chance, Brett Lutes scored to keep it alive. But in the ninth round, after Vince Macri scored, Josh Liebenow was denied by Stirling to end it.

The Falcons (10-6-0) broke out on top early, scoring just 3:07 into the game. With the Condors on the power-play, Fresno broke up ice, and after Hodson stopped one shot, John Wroblewski put in the rebound for the short-handed goal and a 1-0 lead.

Bakersfield tied it up at 4:32 of the second. Rane Carnegie sent Liebenow streaking down the right wing, and after he beat one defenseman, he slid the puck across to an onrushing Shawn Thompson, who beat Stirling to make it 1-1.

Fresno again jumped in front on another short- handed goal at 8:09 of the second. Brian McConnell stole the puck behind the Condors net, walked out in front, and put it high over Hodson's glove to make it 2-1.

But the Condors fought back once again. On the power-play, Todd Griffith and Carnegie worked the puck free off the sideboards, and sent it to Tyler Scott at the point. Scott threw it toward the net, and P.O. Beaulieu tried to knock it down with his glove, but instead tipped it past his own goaltender and the game was tied at 2-2.

Bakersfield thought they had taken the lead at 4:10 of the third, but a quick whistle kept the game knotted. Off a shot from the point, Lutes swatted the rebound into the net, but the referee had lost sight of the puck and blew the play dead just before Lutes lit the lamp.

Fresno took the lead again halfway through the third. With a delayed penalty call coming against the Condors, the Falcons worked it around the net, and John Morlang finished the play with a wrister to the far post that eluded Hodson and made it 3-2, setting the stage of St. Jacques marker.
