Blanshan Traded; Desmet activated

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal announced today he's traded defenseman Cody Blanshan to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL for future considerations.

Blanshan, a 6-1, 200-pound Minnesota native, played in 14 games for Idaho this 2006-07 season, tallying three points (1g-2a) and 52 penalty minutes. The 22-year-old attended the Iowa Stars training camp prior to the ECHL season opening.

In 2005-06, Blanshan led all Greenville Grrrowl defensemen in goals (12) and finished 2nd among Grrrowl blue-liners with 27 points. During 2004-05, he attended the Chicago Blackhawks training camp, and won the President's Cup (WHL champs) as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers in 2003-04.

In other roster news, forward Taggart Desmet was activated off the 3-day injured reserve list and will be dressed for tonight's game.
