Wranglers Edge Steelheads 3-2

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers (10-1-7, 27 points) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (11-3-2, 24 points) 3-2 at the Qwest Arena on Wednesday night. Las Vegas extended its winning streak to six games with goals by Tyler Mosienko, Derek Edwardson and Lee Green. Goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 28 saves, improving to 3-0-2 on the season. The Wranglers remain unbeaten in regulation on the road, improving to 8-0-5 on the season. Las Vegas has earned points in all but one of their first 18 games and lead the ECHL with 27 points. The Wranglers stay in Idaho for game on Friday and Saturday at 6:10 pm (PST).

In the first period, Las Vegas scored the first two goals of the game less than five minutes in. Defenseman Lee Green fired a puck through traffic from the left point at 2:55 of the opening period. Green's first of the season was set up by Derek Edwardson. Just over a minute later, Tyler Mosienko scored his eighth goal of the year at 4:10 to lift the Wranglers to a 2-0 lead. The Steelheads cashed in with a 5-on-3 power-play goal by Marty Flichel at 18:09 of the first period, trimming the Wranglers lead to 2-1 after one period of play.

Las Vegas took a 3-1 lead early in the second period with a power-play goal by Edwardson. Steve Crampton set up Edwardson in the left-wing circle for the snap shot, his fifth of the season at 5:11.

In the third period, Tuomas Mikkonen scored just 1:19 into the period to bring the Steelheads within one goal at 3-2. Las Vegas closed the door from there holding on to the one-goal lead.

Las Vegas will return home on Friday, December 15th to host the Stockton Thunder at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans receive a pair of Thundersticks as part of "Sing for Santa" weekend. Saturday, December 16th the Wranglers host the Fresno Falcons at 7:05 pm. The Port of Subs pre-game party will be in the concourse from 4:30 -6:30 pm prior to the game.

The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
