Royals Sign Defenseman Taylor Christie

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Taylor Christie ("CHRIS tee").

A sixth round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2002, Christie (6'3"/210 lbs.) began this season with the Utah Grizzlies, picking up 37 penalty minutes in 16 games prior to being waived on Sunday. Christie, who had a stellar four year career at Bowling Green State University, scored three goals and picked up eight assists and eighty-eight penalty minutes with the Phoenix Roadrunners in the ECHL last season.

It is expected that Christie will be in the lineup when the Royals take on the Gwinnett Gladiators for the first time in team history at the Sovereign Center in Reading tonight (6:35 pm). Royals' game day broadcasts can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as through the internet via the Royals' website (www.royalshockey.com) with the pre-game show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off.
