Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors front office has undergone a few changes over the last couple weeks, highlighted by the promotion of Greg May to assistant general manager and the addition of Matthew Martin as director of sales.

May, 26, is in his fourth season with the team, and started out as an account executive. Last season, he served as the director of group sales and in-game promotions. The Condors experienced a 5% increase in attendance from the previous season last year, due in large part to a strong group sales effort. The West Coast Hockey League pinned the Condors with the league's Best Game Presentation award as well last season under May's guidance.

Martin, 26, joins the staff after having worked the last three and a half years with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League. There he served as senior corporate account manager before departing to work for the Condors. Prior to that, Martin worked in group sales with the Tennessee Smokies, a AA baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He graduated in 1999 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a sport management degree.

Recently, the Condors longest-tenured employee has left the club. Alex Sheffield was in his seventh season with the organization before leaving to assume the role of director of corporate sales with baseball's New Orleans Zephyrs, AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros in the International League.

In one of the more noticeable losses to the Condors staff, P.A. Announcer and Production Director Chris Peace has taken on a diminished role with the club due to family commitments on the east coast. Peace has handled the team's public address announcing since the first season in Centennial Garden.

"Obviously the lost of Alex's experience and the diminished role of the extraordinary talent that is "the Peaceman" leaves us with some large shoes to fill," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "However, we couldn't be more excited with Matt Martin coming in. He had a lot of success in Tampa Bay, which is a non-traditional hockey market like Bakersfield. Elevating Greg is a no-brainer. His work ethic and desire to excel in this industry is second to none."

The Condors return home on Friday, December 5th to take on the Fresno Falcons at 7:00pm. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will receive a Condors Backpack, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Wm. K. Lyons Insurance. It's the only game of the week for the Condors, whose next four matches are all on home ice. All Condors games can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, as well as online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com, with the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl handling the play-by-play.

Individual seats may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, with extended hours on game days. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location. Fans can purchase season tickets, mini-packs and group outings by phoning the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825), or stopping by the office at Centennial Garden next to the ticket windows.
