Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, Ill. (December 4, 2003) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie forward Colin Hemingway and rookie center Greg Black have been reassigned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate – the Worcester IceCats – by their NHL parent club, the St. Louis Blues.

Hemingway – a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan – collected six assists – five of which came in his last two games – in five contests with the Rivermen with a +5 plus/minus and two penalty minutes (PIM). He posted his first professional point at Carver Arena against Cincinnati on October 22.

The 23-year-old Hemingway appeared in nine games for Worcester earlier this season without a point. The eighth round (221st overall) draft choice of the Blues in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft enjoyed a four-year NCAA Division I career at the University of New Hampshire.

Black – a 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Kamloops, British Columbia – tallied an assist in three games with the Rivermen with 14 PIM. The 21-year-old center notched two assists and racked up 64 PIM in 14 games with Worcester to open the season. He was signed as a free agent by the Blues on March 20.

Black enjoyed a four-year Major Junior "A" hockey career with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Rivermen take on the Johnstown Chiefs in the first of two in a row against them on the road tomorrow night. Game time is 6:00 p.m. CT at Cambria County War Memorial. The teams do battle again on Saturday night.

On Sunday, December 7, the Rivermen host the Cincinnati Cyclones on the first of seven Journal Star/Insight Media Kids Days. Kids 12 and Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl Admission. Dora The Explorer will also appear courtesy of Nickelodeon. There will be $2.50 Kids Meals, which include a hot dog, chips, soda and a Tyler Rennette player card (available in the first 1,000 meals). It is sponsored by the Peoria Journal Star, Insight Media, Butternut Breads, Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips, Little Caesar's Pizza, Coca-Cola, Raber Packing Company and Regent Broadcasting of Peoria.
