Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors signed rookie RW Chris Di Ubaldo (DEE-yuh-BAHL-doh) today, as announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Di Ubaldo, 25, had been playing his first professional season in Germany with TEV Miesbach in the Oberliga German League, where he notched four goals and four assists in 12 games.
Prior to turning pro, Di Ubaldo played three seasons with Wilfrid Laurier University in the Canadian Interuniversity League. He led the Golden Hawks in scoring with 13 goals in 23 games in 2004-05, and 16 goals in 25 games in 2006-07, with 11 of those coming via the power-play. He also notched six goals in seven playoff games last season.
"We're looking for some skill coming from Europe and we're lucky to add Chris," Raymond said. "He's a good skater and a good hockey player. We haven't given up on trying to improve our team and our goal is still to make the playoffs."
The 6-foot-2-inch, 200-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba originally spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League, splitting time with the Kelowna Rockets, Prince George Cougars and Prince Albert Raiders. In 228 games, Di Ubaldo amassed 44 goals, 55 assists and 218 penalty minutes.
Di Ubaldo will join the team for the games Tuesday and Wednesday in Victoria, British Columbia, but will not travel back to Bakersfield until his immigration has been processed.
