This Week:

1/18 vs. Dayton:

Johnstown and Dayton last met on December 15 at the Bombers' second home, Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio. In that game, the Bombers used three third-period goals to turn a close 5-3 contest into a lopsided 8-3 loss for the Chiefs. The teams last met on War Memorial ice on November 16 with Dayton winning 5-4 thanks to its victory in a nine-round shootout. That game stands as the Chiefs' only loss in a game that went past regulation for the team that sits atop the ECHL rankings in OT records (4-0-1, .900). The game will also feature a "Guaranteed Win Night" promotion. If the Chiefs do not win the game, all fans in attendance will get a free voucher good for any future Johnstown home game!

1/19 at Reading:

Johnstown will return to Reading's Sovereign Center one week after handing the Royals their seventh home loss of the season. The Chiefs have been making the most of their trips to Reading for a while now, winning five of their last seven games there dating back to last season. That building is very conducive to the Chiefs scoring goals, also, as they have averaged more than four goals per game (29G in 7 games) at the Sovereign Center since last year.

1/20 at Trenton:

Redemption will be the word of the day when Johnstown takes the short jaunt from Reading to Trenton for their final game before the break. In their previous match-up at Sovereign Bank Arena, Trenton beat Johnstown for the first time this season with a 5-0 victory. Forward Brad Mills starred in that game, posting his first three goals of the season for a hat trick.

"Pow-Wow" Planner:

The brand-new Johnstown Chiefs talk-show, "The Pow-Wow", resumes this Thursday at the Lower Works Restaurant and Pub at the Johnstown Brewing Company. Your host, the voice of the Chiefs Ray Schmitt, will be joined by guests Rob Drummond and Ryan Nie for the second episode. The all-ages half-hour show will begin at 7:30 PM, and afterwards, Nie and Drummond will stay to meet fans for 30-45 minutes. Don't forget to come hungry as the full menu at the JBC will be available during the show!

Last Week:

1/11 at Elmira: W 4-3

The Chiefs were just following a trend with their win on Friday in Elmira. The road team in that series has won each contest with Johnstown's other win coming on Oct. 26, and Elmira winning on New Year's Eve in Johnstown. The Chiefs started scoring right off the bus, jumping out to a 2-0 lead before all of the fans had even reached their seats. Ryan Garlock and Patrick Levesque each scored from in close 32 seconds apart before the game was three-and-a-half minutes old. Johnstown held the lead after the first period despite getting out-shot 9-4, and was able to withstand a third-period rally by the Jackals even though the home team scored twice in the third.

1/12 at Reading: W 5-3

Once again, the Chiefs used the philosophy of get ahead early and hang on late to pick up all four points on the road for the weekend. This time it was Jean Desrochers who got the black and gold on the board first. Tyler Hirsch sprung Desrochers on a partial breakaway with a great flip pass from the right wing boards, and he feathered a backhander in for his 13th goal. Mike Sgroi, playing in his first game for Johnstown, added an assist. The second period featured six goals between the two teams (three each). Reading narrowly got their third as P.J. Atherton jumped in on offense, and tallied with less than a second remaining in the period. The Chiefs kept the Royals off the board in the third, and picked up an empty-netter as insurance courtesy of Patrick Levesque.

Glad To Have You Back:

Chiefs defenseman Mike Knight returned to the lineup after missing six games with a groin injury, and it should be no surprise that the team returned to its winning ways. Johnstown has earned 21 of its 29 points this season when Knight dresses (10-9-0-1), and the blue-liner from Toronto contributes in a number of ways. He sits second among the team's defensemen in scoring with 12 points, (2G, 10A), plays a sound defensive game evidenced by his even +/- rating, and provides a solid presence on the penalty kill. The previous weekend in Wheeling, the Chiefs' PK allowed four goals on 11 chances without Knight. With him, they went 11-for-12 against Elmira's and Reading's power play units.
