THE WEEK THAT WAS - (3-0-0)

January 11, 2008 - The Wheeling Nailers scored a season-high seven goals to beat the Reading Royals 7-4 on the road. Six different players a scored goal for Wheeling with Kevin Croxton netting a pair. Aaron Boogaard's goal at 14:12 of the second period chased goaltender Jonathan Quick to the bench. Former Nailer Terry Denike finished the game in net for the Royals. Martin Houle made 30 saves in the win.

January 12, 2008 - The Nailers got a quick start and never looked back, defeating the Dayton Bombers 4-1 at WesBanco Arena. Special teams were the deciding factor as Wheeling was able to score twice on the power play while shutting out the second ranked Bombers power play on nine opportunities. Houle was solid in net again stopping 32 shots and was named the Ogden Newspapers No. 1 Star of the Game.

January 13, 2008 - The Nailers extended their season-long winning streak to four by beating the Trenton Devils 3-2 in Wheeling. The first goal of the game didn't come until Croxton scored at 9:47 of the second period. Matt Johnson broke a 2-2 tie at 8:11 of the third for the game winner in just his third game with the team. Curtis Darling made an impressive 43 saves to pick up his second win as a Nailer.

Going Streaking...The Wheeling Nailers are currently on a 4-game winning streak and a 5-game unbeaten streak. Sean Collins has recorded a point in each of the last six games (3g, 5a) and Kevin Croxton has scored a goal in three straight (4g).

New Year; New Team... Since the calendar turned to 2008, the Nailers have compiled a record of 4-0-1. They have outscored the opposition 20-11 and as a team are a +19. Their power play is 7-for-28 (25.0%) and their penalty kill is 4-for29 (86.2%).

Oh My Darling!...Goaltender Curtis Darling is 2-0-0 with a 2.09 GAA and a .937 save percentage since joining the Nailers on January 2.

Call in the Hounds... Head Coach Greg Puhalski brought in three players this week that played for him last season as members of the Chicago Hounds (UHL). Matt Johnson scored the game winning goal in both Saturday and Sunday's game, BJ Radovich notched his first of the year on Friday, and Kelly Miller added two assists and was a +4 in his first three games.
