Condors host annual Open House & Family Day

Sunday, October 9th : The Bakersfield Condors 2005-2006 Open House & Family Day will be held Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center, located behind Rabobank Arena at 1325 Q Street, between Truxtun and California. Presented by KGET-TV 17, admission to the Open House is free with a donation of two non-perishable food items to The Salvation Army Food Pantry. With training camp officially opening this week, the Open House is the first chance for the public to meet the team. The Condors will be on hand to skate with fans from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. Fans can bring their own skates or rent skates for $3.00 Following the public skate, the team will take the ice for a practice session from 3:30 - 5:00 pm, fans are invited to stick around and see them in action. The Open House is also the first day that Season Tickets are available for pick-up by season ticket holders. Activities for the kids will be set-up outdoors, including the Condors inflatable Slapshot game.

Week in Review :

Tuesday, September 27th : Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond, Assistant Coach Mark Pederson, and Director of Ticket Sales Jose Rivera spoke at the Arvin Lions Club meeting. The trio brought club members up-to-date on the preparations for the upcoming season.

Thursday, September 29th : Justin Fahsbender, group sales manager, spoke to the entry-level Sports Marketing class at California State University, Bakersfield. Fahsbender gave the group a basic overview of the day-to-day operations in a sports office, including group sales and promotions.

Friday, September 30th : Nine members of the Condors staff, including assistant coach Mark Pederson, helped Habitat for Humanity complete their fifth consecutive home at the Kern County Fair. The house was completed in 10 days with the help of close to 500 volunteers. It will be moved to a permanent location later this week.

Sunday, October 2nd : Director of Community Relations Mikie Hayhurst, Account Manager Tasha Subriar and Condors Mascot Colonel Claw'd attended the 3rd annual Ice Cream Extravaganza hosted by Junior Achievement of Bakersfield. The event included ice cream eating contests, rock wall climbing and the Condors inflatable Slapshot game. All proceeds went to Junior Achievement and the students served in Kern County.

The Bakersfield Condors season opens in 19 days at home on October 22nd against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Season ticket, mini-plans and group outings can be reserved by contacting the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.
