Condors Game Preview: Sock Toss Sunday and Skate with the Team

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors host the San Diego Gulls for the third annual Sock Toss Sunday at 5 p.m. Fans are asked to bring new, packaged underwear, socks, diapers, and undergarments to throw on the ice after the Condors first goal of the game. The articles will be collected and donated to The Mission at Kern County and Kern County Network for Children.

GAME: Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton Oilers) v. San Diego Gulls (Anaheim Ducks)

PROMOTION: SOCK TOSS SUNDAY presented by 97.3 JACK FM. Throw new, packaged socks, underwear, diapers and undergarments on the ice after the Condors score their first goal of the game for donation to charity. The team has donated over 12,000 undergarments in two seasons as a result of the event. SKATE WITH THE TEAM - after the game fans are invited to skate with the team. Limited skate rental available for $5 per pair.

TONIGHT

The Bakersfield Condors play their final game of 2015 with the San Diego Gulls in town for the third time this month. Bakersfield is 3-1-0-1 against the Gulls this season with the home team winning each of the first five contests. There are no games scheduled between the two sides in January with the next meeting on Feb. 10 in San Diego.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Bakersfield took a 2-0 lead with them into the first intermission and never looked back in a 5-3 win over Stockton last night. D Brad Hunt scored twice, RW Matthew Ford scored shorthanded, and G Ty Rimmer made 21 saves in the victory. The Condors have points in six of their last eight games and own a record of 4-2-2-0 in that span.

San Diego won their fourth straight game, 4-1, at home against Ontario last night. C Chris Mueller and C Joseph Cramarossa each had a multi-point night (1g-1a) as G Anton Khudobin stopped 29 of 30 shots.

RIMMER RETURNS

G Ty Rimmer stopped 21 shots last night in his return to the American Hockey League and Condorstown. Rimmer went 1-0-1 in three appearances with the Oklahoma City Barons in December of 2013 with a 2.65 GAA and a .930 save percentage. After starting the season in Bakersfield (ECHL) a season ago, Rimmer was diagnosed and underwent successful treatment for testicular cancer. He returned to Oklahoma City late in the season to join the Barons for their playoff run.

CONDORS NOTES

Bakersfield is 3-0-0-0 on home ice in December. Five of their next six games are on home ice... C Kyle Platzer has points in three straight (3g-2a) including his second multi-point game in the last week with a 1g-1a night last night... RW Matthew Ford has a four-game point streak (3g-1a). His 12 goals are t-8th in the AHL, three off the league lead... D Brad Hunt is t-3rd in scoring by a d-man with 23 points (6g-17a) in 27 games. He is tied for the team lead with six multi-point games this season including potting two goals in a game twice... Ford's shorthanded goal last night was his second and the Condors fourth shorthanded tally of the season.

GULLS NOTES

D Brandon Montour is tied for the league lead in assists with 20. He is fourth among rookies in scoring with 25 points and t-12th in the AHL in the same category... D Stu Bickel is the AHL league leader in penalty minutes with 101 and major penalties with nine... The Gulls are the second-most penalized team in the AHL at 20.62 PIMs a game. They have the league's best power play at 24.1%.
