December 27, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release

San Jose, Calif. - Derek Grant scores the lone goal for the Stockton Heat, as the centerman extends his impressive point streak to five games; however, the San Jose Barracuda proved too much for the Heat, defeating Stockton by a score of 5-1 at the SAP Center Sunday night. Grant's streak is the longest such streak this season by a Heat player and he has amassed a total of 8 points (4-4-8) during this stretch. Unfortunately, Barclay Goodrow, Troy Grosenick and the rest of the Barracuda held strong and earned the victory on their home ice. QUOTES

"[Jakub Nakladal] got a good shot off from the point that went a little wide, but I was able to find it coming off the back wall and get it up over the goalie." - Derek Grant on his goal tonight.

"It's a good thing for me, I guess, but when you're not winning games it's not something you think too much about. You can't be too happy with it really. As a team we need to find ways to win." - Grant on his five-game point streak.

"Our schedule gives us a good opportunity to pick it up. We have four games in six days coming up here, so we have to take it upon ourselves because no one can fix it but us. We're going to have to go to work tomorrow and hopefully collect some wins." - Grant on trying to string together some wins with a crowded week of games on the horizon.

"Not very good - we're not playing very well right now and the last couple games in particular. We're a much better hockey team than what we've shown these last couple games. We just haven't had the intensity that we need. We've lost a lot of 1-on-1 puck battles and we weren't nearly good enough tonight to compete in a game like this." - Head Coach Ryan Huska on his overall view of his team's performance tonight.

"When you're winning it helps having so many games in a short stretch, but right now we need the practice time. During this stretch, we need to look to a lot of the guys in our room to contribute and be better. When you're not playing well guys have a tendency to stand around and watch the game or overthink the game - that's where we are in these last couple games. We have to make sure to get back to moving our feet and being a hard-working team." - Coach Huska on the upcoming stretch of games and whether it will help the team get into a groove.
