TONIGHT
The Stockton Heat head to the Bay Area to face the San Jose Barracuda at the SAP Center just one full week from their previous meeting last Sunday.
The Heat will be looking to break a spell of back-to-back losses, while also searching for their first win at the SAP Center this season.
For San Jose, it is their first game since that game last Sunday and they'll be looking to string together two wins in a row for the first time since December 4 and 5.
LAST TIME VS. SAN JOSE
Last Sunday, the Heat dropped a 5-4 decision to the Barracuda in what was the teams' second meeting on the season at the SAP Center.
After the Heat jumped out to a 3-0 lead, San Jose tallied five-straight goals and took the wind out of Stockton's sails on the way to the Heat's second loss in San Jose this season.
It was, however, a memorable night for rookie Morgan Klimchuk, who scored his first goal, first assist and his first multi-point game all in one night.
It's always a big night for any rookie to get his first goal or point, but the Flames first-rounder had a long wait and was relieved following the game that he didn't have it weighing on his mind anymore.
WHO TO WATCH
The last time Bryce Van Brabant put up a multi-point game he went four-straight games without a point.
He'll be looking to avoid a streak like that in the wake of his career night in Bakersfield last night.
Van Brabant registered two goals and added an assist to give him his first three-point game of his pro career, as well as his second multi-point effort of the season.
The Quinnipiac product continues to produce consistently away from the scoresheet and is just searching for some consistency on the scoresheet to round out his game.
Watch for him to try and build off last night's performance by having another solid game in San Jose against the Barracuda.
POINT STREAK FOR GRANT
Derek Grant is on a team-high four-game point streak where he has put up three goals and four assists in the last four games he's played in for the Heat.
The streak is the longest in Stockton Heat team history and is pretty impressive on it's own.
During the streak, Grant has earned three separate multi-point games and has carried the Heat offensively over that stretch.
The big centerman has searched for a more consistent presence on the scoresheets in recent weeks and he seems to have found his groove.
Grant is certainly leading the way for the Heat right now in the offensive zone and he continues to play at both ends of the ice with equal effectiveness.
HUSKA TO COACH 100TH PRO GAME
Tonight, Head Coach Ryan Huska will man the bench for the 100th time in his pro career.
It is his second season with the Calgary Flames AHL affiliate and tonight will mark a special milestone for the young coach.
Not even to the midway point of his sophomore AHL season, Huska has a record of 44-45-6-4 and continues to build on that as the season rolls along.
Prior to the beginning of his pro head coaching career, Huska won a Memorial Cup in 2005 as an Assistant Coach in Kelowna and lost in the Memorial Cup finals in 2009 with Kelowna as well.
INTERESTING FACT
The Spengler Cup kicked off yesterday with Team Canada defeating Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL 2-1.
Stockton Heat team captain Aaron Johnson did not register a point, but he did lead a stacked Team Canada in ice time with 20:26.
The San Jose Barracuda are also missing a key defenseman in Mark Cundari, as he joined Johnson on Team Canada in Switzerland.
The next game for Johnson and Team Canada comes tomorrow night when they take on the host team HC Davos.
