Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors swung a trade today with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, picking up G Jason Wolfe in exchange for G Randy Petruk. Wolfe will be added to the roster in time for tonight's game in San Diego.
Wolfe, 27, is in his third full professional season, second in the ECHL. He has played 15 games with Mississippi this season, compiling a 7-8-0 record with a 3.17 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. In 104 professional games, the College Park, Maryland native has a .910 save percentage and a 48-40-7 career record. Last season with Roanoke, Wolfe had a .913 save percentage and won 16 games while splitting the goaltending duties with the second place Express.
Standing at 6'5", 220-pounds, Wolfe played four seasons with Merrimac College before making his pro debut with Reading in the ECHL. Despite allowing just seven goals on 87 shots in three games, Wolfe was 0-3. He went on to win 25 games as a rookie with a pair of shutouts in the United Hockey League.
Petruk had started the season winning his first six starts, but after that had gone 5-8-2. He also spent a month on the injured reserve list after being knocked from a November game against Las Vegas.
"We tried to get Jason prior to the start of the season and it didn't work out," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "He's a big kid and a good young goaltender. Randy's a good goaltender and was a good person in the locker room, but we just felt that it was time to make a change."
The Condors battle the San Diego Gulls tonight from the Sports Arena at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com and also viewed online through B2 Networks on the Condors official website. They return home for Sunday's match against Long Beach at 2:00 p.m. That game, everyone in attendance will get a "Year of the Condor" poster featuring Dennis Shiryaev, Guy Dupuis, Paul Rosebush, David Kudelka and Yutaka Fukufuji. Univision, the Groove 99.3 and Body Xchange sponsor the posters.
Season ticket, mini-plans and group outings can still be reserved by contacting the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information. Individual game tickets are now on sale and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday.
