
Wranglers Fall 5-3 to Long Beach

Las Vegas, NV â The Las Vegas Wranglers fell to the Long Beach Ice Dogs 5-3 Friday night at the Orleans Arena in front of 5,129 fans. Ice Dogs rookie Marco Rosa had a goal and an assist in the game and goaltender Olivier Michaud made 37 saves to earn his 12th win of the season. Dustin Johner, Jason Spence and Shawn Limpright each scored for the Wranglers in the loss. The Wranglers conclude their seven-game home stand as they host the Long Beach Ice Dogs again on Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
In the first period, Las Vegas scored the first goal of the game as Shawn Limpright found a loose puck in the crease and punched it in for the 1-0 Wranglers lead. The Ice Dogs tied the game at 17:08 on a power-play goal by Evan Cheverie.
In the second period, the Ice Dogs took a 2-1 lead as Phil Lewandowski scored his first goal of the season at 5:02. Three minutes later Cory Urquhart scored for Long Beach, giving the Ice Dogs a 3-1 lead. Dustin Johner scored an unassisted goal at 8:43 to bring Las Vegas to within one goal at 3-2. With 1:53 left in the period, Marco Rosa tallied a shorthanded goal to give the Ice Dogs a 4-2 lead after two periods.
In the third period, Jason Spence scored for the Wranglers making the score 4-3. At 19:34 of the period Steeve Villeneuve added an empty-net goal to give the Ice Dogs the 5-3 win.
The Wranglers will continue their seven-game home stand on Saturday, February 19th the Ice Dogs and Wranglers will meet again at 7:05 pm. "Fire and Ice" will perform during both intermissions.
