
San Diego Tries To Break Three-Game Winless Streak

SAN DIEGO â The San Diego Gulls, who lost a tough 1-0 affair last night in Fresno, try to break a three-game winless streak when they host the Bakersfield Condors tonight at the Sports Arena.
SERIES HISTORY: The Gulls and Condors have met six times so far this season with Bakersfield holding a 4-1-1 series edge. The two teams will clash two more times during the regular season. San Diego and Bakersfield met 10 times last season with the Gulls holding a 9-1-0 edge.

San Diego owns the all-time series match-up, posting an 87-18-7 record against its West Division rival. The Gulls are 47-6-4 all-time against the Condors at the Sports Arena.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING (FEB. 9 VS. BAK): Curtis Brown notched a goal and an assist, while goaltender Mathieu Chouinard turned aside 29 of 31 shots, leading the Gulls to a hard-fought 3-2 win against the Condors. Bakersfield jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, but San Diego answered with two straight goals to take a 2-1 lead. Sean O'Connor gave the Gulls a two-goal cushion before the Condors cut the deficit back to one. That's how the game stayed, as Chouinard and company shut the door from there.
GULLS UPDATE: The Gulls (25-18-5) enter the day fifth in the West Division, six points behind the fourth-place Fresno Falcons and one point ahead of the sixth-place Idaho Steelheads... San Diego, however, has two games in hand on Fresno... The Gulls are 11 points out of first, 10 out of second and seven out of third... The Blue and Orange are 16-5-3 at home and 9-13-3 on the road this season... They've outscored their opponents 90-68 at home, but have been outscored 77-55 on the road... The Gulls are 4-7-2 in their last 13 games... They've been outscored 35-23 in their last 12 games...
OTHER NOTES: San Diego is 19-2-1 when scoring four-plus goals in a game, but just 6-16-5 when scoring three or less... The Gulls have been out-shot in 26 of 49 games this season... Including last night, they have been shutout four times season (all on the road)... San Diego has the eighth ranked power play in the league (18.2 percent) and the second-best at home (22.4 percent)... It's penalty killing, however, is 27th in the league (78.5 percent)... The Gulls have allowed two-or-more power-play goals in 14 games... Curtis Brown has six points (2g, 4a) in his last four games... San Diego has six players that have scored 10+ goals (Brian Gornick â 19, O'Connor â 15, Max Birbraer â 13, Sylvain Deschatelets â 11, Guillaume Fournier â 11 and Mark Pederson â 10)...
BAKERSFIELD UPDATE: Bakersfield (29-13-8) begins the day second in the West with 66 points, one behind the first-place Long Beach Ice Dogs... The Condors are unbeaten in 17 of their last 21 games (13-4-4)... Goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji is 3-0-1 against the Gulls so far this season, with a 1.67 goals-against average and .945 save percentage... Their leading scorer Kevin St. Jacques, who has 40 points (9g, 31), is on the injured list...
TRANSACTIONS: Scott Borders was activated from the injured list Friday after missing six games with a quad-contusion... Mike Garrow remains on the injured list with concussion-like symptoms... Evgueni Nourislamov (broken thumb) and Wes Rypien (knee sprain) both remain on the 30-day injured list... Andrew Canzanello remains with the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks...
