Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Fresno beat division-rival San Diego 1-0 as goaltender Brett Jaeger saved all 31 shots on goal by the Gulls.

After a scoreless first period, John Wroblewski took a pass from Dan Tessier and broke the tie 3:31 into the second to put Fresno up 1-0 on the power play. The Falcons carried the lead through the second and into the third.

San Diego never mounted a serious challenge to Jaeger's shutout bid and committed a pair of penalties late in regulation, as the Falcons were able to protect their lead by finishing the game on the power play.

The victory in front of a crowd of 7,286 gives Fresno a 28-17-6 record and 62 points, as the fourth-place Falcons keep pace in a tight West Division race in which five points separate the top four teams.

The shutout was the second in as many games for Fresno, as they beat Victoria 4-0 Wednesday, and was Jaeger's second of the season. General Manager Blaine Moore coached the game in place of Greg Spenrath, who served a suspension along with three Falcons players for their roles in a bench-clearing brawl during the Victoria game.

The Falcons' next game is Sunday, Feb. 20, at Save Mart Center and is Family Day. Fans may purchase four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for $40.

Regular-priced tickets are on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497), or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
