Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens have announced two transactions, with both taking effect immediately. Goaltender Mike Condon has been recalled to the Hamilton Bulldogs and defenseman Dustin Stevenson has been recalled to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Condon, 23, is earning his first recall of the 2013-14 season and the second of his career, after appearing in five regular season games and three playoff contests with the Houston Aeroes last spring. So far this season, Mike has made a name for himself as one of the top goaltenders in the ECHL, winning Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Month honors. At the time of his recall, the Holliston, MA native is 10-4-4, with a 2.33 goals against average, and a .925 save percentage with the Nailers. Condon made 40 saves in his Wheeling debut on October 18th, and has eclipsed the 30-save mark on six occasions, including a 38-save shutout on November 27th.
Stevenson, 24, is earning his second recall of the 2013-14 season, after appearing in four games with the Penguins in late November. Since then, Dustin suited up in five games with the Nailers, although he was held off of the scoresheet, he did accumulate 21 penalty minutes. In 14 games thus far this season, the Saskatoon, SK native has registered five assists and 38 penalty minutes, as well as a +7 rating. This is Stevenson's fourth season of professional hockey, and during that time, he has totaled three goals, 31 assists, 34 points, and 300 penalty minutes in 218 games.
The Wheeling Nailers and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are both off until Friday night. The Nailers play host to the Evansville IceMen at 7:00, while the Penguins play host to the Worcester Sharks at 7:05.
