Recap of the Week

The Road Warriors hosted a new visitor and traveled to play a familiar foe last weekend. The Orlando Solar Bears visited Greenville on Friday for the first time this season. The Road Warriors began the game with a two goal lead entering the second period. Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Michael St. Croix tallied the goals for the Road Warriors. Orlando tied the game with two goals early in the second but St. Croix netted his second goal of the game to give Greenville a 3-2 lead. Jordie Johnston also scored for the Road Warriors but the Solar Bears notched three more goals after tying the game at two and handed the Warriors a 5-4 loss on home ice. Ryan Hegarty registered a team high three-assist night.

The Road Warriors finished the weekend in North Charleston against the Stingrays on Sunday afternoon. Once again, the Warriors posted two quick goals early in the game. Brett Perlini and Ryan Hegarty gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead just 4:25 into the game. Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored the game winning goal with 5:07 to play in the second period and Scott Stajcer turned aside all six of the Stingrays' 3rd period shots to earn the victory.

Week Ahead

The Road Warriors travel to the Sunshine State this weekend to take on the Florida Everblades on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game begins at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday's game begins at 7:00 p.m. This will mark the first time the Road Warriors have played Florida this season. Last year, the Road Warriors posted a record of 7-4-0 against the Everblades including five straight wins. Newcomer Brayden Irwin will join the lineup and immediately face on of his former teams.

The team finishes up the week before the Christmas break with a game on Sunday against the Solar Bears at 6 p.m. The Road Warriors are still in search of their first win against the South Division opponent after falling in the first three meetings between the teams this season.

Streaks and Stats

Michael St. Croix, Justin Vaive, and Marc-Olivier Vallerand all are in the midst of three-game point streaks.

Ryan Hegarty is on a two-game point streak with one goal and three assists.

Jordie Johnston has three points in the past two games.

Andrew Rowe is second in the league with a +16 rating.

Greenville is 6-3-2 when outshooting opponents.

The Road Warriors possess the best penalty kill in the league with a 91.3%.

The Road Warriors are one of two teams to allow less than ten power-play goals on the season.

Transactions

The Road Warriors signed forward Gerrett Vermeersch on Thursday but released him on Sunday.

On Friday afternoon, the Road Warriors acquired forward Brayden Irwin from Stockton in exchange for defenseman Lee Baldwin.

Forward Andrew Caroll was recalled to the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday.

Goaltender Kyle Rank was signed on Sunday.
