Previewing the Upcoming Week:
12/20 & 12/21 at Cincinnati - 7:35 p.m., Home vs. CIN 1-0-0, Away vs. CIN 0-0-0
This week's road trip is Elmira's first of the season into North Division territory. The Jackals are 4-1-1 at home against the North this season including a 2-1 home win over Cincinnati on November 30. That win sparked a three-game win streak for Elmira, as well as its current run of five wins in six games. The Cyclones enter play this week as the top team in the North Division with a 14-8-1 record thanks to back-to-back road wins in Toledo and Kalamzoo last weekend. Elmira went 2-0-0 in Cincinnati last year and out-scored the Cyclones 7-4 in the process. Maxime Clermont started, and won, both games for the Jackals with a sparkling .942 save percentage. Clermont is 4-3-0 in his career at U.S. Bank Arena while the Jackals have gone 8-5-2 in Cincinnati in their ECHL era. The Jackals have won four straight on the road against the Cyclones and haven't lost in Cincinnati since a 3-2 decision on March 23, 2010.

Recapping Last Week:
12/11 vs. Florida: L 1-2
Elmira put up an impressive defensive effort and limited the ECHL's best offense to 23 shots on goal and a pair of scores in Elmira's finale of a five-game home stand on Wednesday. But the Jackals offense only received a power play goal from Jakub Culek and the Everblades sneaked out with a one-goal win. The loss snapped Elmira's three-game win streak, but the Jackals finished the home stand with a 3-2-0 record.
12/12 at Wheeling: W 5-2
Christian Ouellet recorded the first three-point game of his career (1 goal, 2 assists) and Maxime Clermont made a career-best 44 saves to power Elmira to a 5-2 win over the Nailers. It was Elmira's first win in six tries against the Nailers this season, and first victory at WesBanco Arena since February of 2012.
12/15 at Reading: W 3-2
On Sunday night in Reading, Christian Ouellet stayed hot for the Jackals just one game after posting the first three-point game of his career. His two first-period goals helped pace the Jackals to back-to-back road wins for the first time this season. Ludwig Karlsson (2 assists) and Maxime Clermont (26 saves) also turned in strong performances for the Jackals.
Quick Hits:
* Elmira is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games after going 2-1-0 last week. The six wins in that span are more than 16 other teams in the ECHL. Only Florida (8), Ontario (8), and South Carolina (7) have more wins while Wheeling and Bakersfield have matched Elmira's win total.
* Jordan Pietrus has posted five assists in the first five games during the month of December. The Jackals are 4-0-0 this month in games in which Pietrus has registered an assist. He currently leads the Jackals with 12 helpers through 22 games and is on pace to finish the year with a career-best 39.
* Elmira has battened down the hatches defensively over its last three weeks of play. Since the Jackals allowed six goals in a shootout loss to Kalamazoo on November 22 they have not allowed more than three goals in regulation, and have held opponents to two goals or fewer in six of nine games. The Jackals' defense ranks 13th overall in the ECHL at 2.95 goals against per game.
* Christian Ouellet has burst out for five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in his last two games. That gives him seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in his last six games dating back to November 30 vs. Cincinnati. He had two similar stretches as a rookie last year while skating with the San Francisco Bulls - six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in six games from Jan. 20 to Jan. 30, 2013 and nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) from March 8 to March 17, 2013.
