Columbus Game Notes

May 11, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Columbus Clippers News Release

Haase is Cold

Over his last six starts, Eric Haase has a single hit, to go with 1RBI, in 23AB (9K). However, he did launch a 2-run bomb after subbing for an injured Yu Chang on 5/6 vs. Charlotte (only HR in last 69AB). Haase comes into tonight's game at a season low of .248, while his OBP has also dipped to a season low of .317 (no walks in last nine games, 7BB in nine games previous).

Offensive Offense

The Clippers are batting .151 (27x179) in the midst of a six game slump that has seen them go 1-4. They have plated just nine runs over the six games (four on Sunday), getting shutout three times (tied with Lehigh Valley for 3rd most times shutout). With runners in scoring position, they are hitting .111 (4x36) over the last six. Only 3HR have been hit since 5/5, with a pair coming last night.

Major League Rust

Melky Cabrera and Mike Napoli came into the 2018 season with a combined Major League service time of over 23 years, but the pair have combined to hit .073/.208/.146 with a HR and 4RBI over 41AB with the Clippers. Napoli is currently on the DL with a right knee injury (last played on 4/17), while Cabrera has appeared in four games since getting signed at the beginning of May.

Mound Masters

Since the 17-run debacle vs. Indianapolis on 4/27, the Clipper pitching staff has posted a 3.19ERA (113.0IP, 40ER), watching the team ERA drop nearly a full run (5.62 to 4.63). The Clippers have allowed more than nine hits just three times since 4/27, while surrendering a multi-HR game once (3HR vs. Charlotte on 5/4, all allowed by Ryan Merritt).
