Utah Grizzlies News Release
Loveland, Colorado - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Utah Grizzlies 6-2 Saturday night at Budweiser Events Center.
By the end of the evening, the Grizzlies were without goaltender Andrew Engelage and Ryan Howse due to injury. The team was also without leading scorer Paul McIlveen, who was unable to go in the game.
Utah again came out strong as they looked to salvage something on the weekend series. They drew the first six shots on net and drew an early power-play but were unable to convert. Utah had a season-high of 12 power-plays in the game.
Colorado took a 1-0 first intermission lead on a power-play goal and made it 2-0 27 seconds into the second period on another Chad Costello goal as he scored on a breakaway.
Utah made good use on one of six second period power-plays to make the score 2-1. Brad Mills fourth goal of the year from Riley Armstrong and Drew MacKenzie got Utah within a goal on their fifth power-play of the night 8:01 into the contest. Colorado though got another odd-man rush to make it 3-1 at the second intermission.
The third period for the third-straight evening was again a chaotic 20 minutes with more nastiness and penalties and Colorado again was able to expand their lead as Utah played without their starting goaltender.
The Grizzlies made it 5-2 as Kory Falite scored his third goal of the series on a five-on-three power-play with assists going to Brad Mills and Bryan Cameron with 7:57 left in the game.
Utah returns home on Monday for Maverik Monday. With a receipt from Maverik, fans can purchase six tickets for $30 at the arena box office. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Grizzlies cup and discounted Pepsi products throughout the season.
