IceMen Slip Past Stingrays 2-1

Evansville, IN -The South Carolina Stingrays (5-8-0-1) fell to the Evansville Icemen (3-9-0-1) 2-1 at Ford Center Saturday night. Stingrays defenseman Ryan Turek scored his first goal of the season.

The IceMen jumped on the board first when forward Josh Beaulieu tipped a pass past the left leg of Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (L, 19 saves on 21 shots) at 18:05 of the first period.

Turek tied the contest unassisted at 4:23 of the second frame blasting a shot past the stick of IceMen netminder Rob Madore (W, 31 saves on 32 shots) from the right-wing point. Beaulieu reclaimed the lead for Evansville with an unassisted goal and 9:52.

The Stingrays fired 17 shots in the third period and generated several great chances late in the game, but could not solve Madore. The Stingrays ended the contest 0-for-8 on the power play while the IceMen went 0-for-3.

The Stingrays continue their season-long six-game road trip tomorrow, Sunday, November 11 against the Toledo Walleye at 5:05 p.m. at Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday, November 16 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. for Salute to Heroes Night with local EMS, fire and police departments.
