Bakersfield Condors News Release

BOISE, Idaho - D Olivier Dame-Malka had a season-high three points with a goal and two assists, but the Bakersfield Condors (4-7-1-1, 10pts) relinquished a two-goal, third period lead and fell to the Idaho Steelheads (8-2-0-2, 18pts) in a shootout, 5-4, on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Neither team found the scoreboard in the first period as the Condors had the only full power play of the frame which was unsuccessful. G Brian Stewart made an early point blank save on F Jacob Cepis, but was not tested much after that as the Condors outshot Idaho, 16-7.

A strong start to the second period led to two quick goals from the Condors. First, D Olivier Dame-Malka fired a shot from inside the circles on a four-on-three power play to put Bakersfield in front 1-0 at the 1:12 mark. Dame-Malka had a hand in the team's second goal as well when his blast from the left point was deflected home by F Jacob Lagace four minutes later to give the Condors a 2-0. Then, Cepis forced a turnover and drew a penalty shot, but was denied by Stewart to keep Idaho off the scoreboard. It would not stay that way though as F Austin Fyten at 13:21 and F Kael Mouillierat at 15:45 tied the game at 2-2. The Condors would inch back in front at 3-2 when C Levi Nelson banged home his own rebound, 18:54 into the period. It would stay that way into the intermission as Idaho outshot Bakersfield, 11-9.

The Condors regained their two-goal advantage at 4-2 when F Peter Boyd stuffed home his own rebound on the power play at 7:04. However, Idaho turned to their vaunted power play and scored two man advantage tallies to tie the game at 4-4. F Tristan King scored the first of the two goals at the 9:21 mark and the game was equalized by F Justin Dowling with under five minutes remaining off a rebound. With the game tied at 4-4, the teams headed to overtime for the second consecutive night.

In overtime, the Condors killed off an Idaho power play to force the game to a shootout. Bakersfield was unable to score on four attempts as Idaho got shootout goals from Mouillierat and F Sam Carrick to take the extra point, 5-4.
